What makes a person a friend is ability to trust that person with your deepest secret. Be able to have someone to be there when you are in trouble. You can be yourself around he/she without having to think if you look stupid or not in front of that person.

Singer and Spinos are not true friends, because Singer always have bailed Spinos out of jail. If you have to always be put into that situtation; that person is not really your friend, he/ she is using you. " Singer became very familiar with the procedure of the courts and he was in a cinstant state of agitation. The money he had saved in the bank was spent for bail and fines. All of his efforts and the money were used to keep his friend out of jail because of ....." (pg.8)

This situtation has never happened to me before.

You say that trust is essential in a friendship and that a friend will help you in times of trouble. Also, you say that you can be yourself in front of that person. Then you say that the friendship of Singer and the Greek are not friends because only Singer always has to bail the Greek out of jail. Would you say though that trust, a willingness to help, and the ability to feel comfortable together describes their relationship?

Yes! Trust is willingness to help, and the ability to feel comfortable together describes their relationship. But if I have to bail my friend out everytime; he or she is going to have the idea that I am always going to bail them out. So, they are going to keep using me.

P.S. I understand your point and I do agree with you.
